Seminar Outline:

This session is aimed at raising awareness of accessibility-related issues and engaging participants as leaders in implementing the solutions.

Inclusion By Design: Hundreds of software aids, thousands of hardware aids and a cornucopia of solutions exist to support the needs of people with disabilities. How do we ensure that people are included? Technology will be used to demonstrate the impact of having accessible and inaccessible content. Practical tips will be given on how to approach inclusion by design as well as how integrating accessibility requirements at various stages of a project and ensuring that the diverse requirements of vision, hearing, physical and cognitive user requirements can be met.

Jeffrey Stark | Manager of the Accessibility, Accommodations & Adaptive Computer Technology (AAACT) Program, Shared Services Canada (SSC)

Jeffrey Stark is widely respected both in the Government of Canada and abroad as an expert in Inclusive and Accessible Information & Communication Technology.  He has been working in this field for over 25 years.  He manages the AAACT Program, a group of passionate, engaged, enthusiastic and experienced Subject Matter Experts.


Jean-Marc Parisi | Support Analyst, Accessibility, Accommodations & Adaptive Computer Technology (AAACT) Program, Shared Services Canada (SSC)

Jean-Marc is an Adaptive Computer Technology Subject Mater Expert with 20+ years of experience in adapting solutions covering the whole gambit of visual, physical, hearing and learning disabilities.

Julianna Rowsell | Accessibility Subject Matter Expert, Accommodations & Adaptive Computer Technology (AAACT) Program, Shared Services Canada (SSC)

Julianna is an Accessibility Subject Matter Expert (SME) with the Accessibility, Accommodation and Adaptive Computer Technology Program (AAACT). She has worked in the accessibility field since 2010.  She actively pushes for a more open government and strongly encourages interdepartmental sharing of knowledge and designed infrastructure such as Questionnaire Design, etc. She believes that fostering a more inclusive experience by maximizing inclusive design principles generates a more usable web for all.
