PDW 2025 Theme

For more than 60 years, DPI has captured the voice of the public sector IM, IT, and Digital community, and this year is no different. Our most anticipated annual learning event, Professional Development Week, will be held May 6-8, 2025 – both virtually and at the Rogers Centre Ottawa.

This event will provide important opportunities to learn, network, and connect with colleagues. That’s why we are excited to launch our theme: “Public Sector AI: Think Like a Human, Learn Like a Machine” The focus will be on various topics such as technology, skill-building, adaptability, resiliency, leadership, mental health, and the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion.

In today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative force reshaping the way government operates and delivers services. Join us at PDW 2025 as we embark on a visionary exploration of the future of public sector AI. Together, let’s think like humans, learn like machines, and chart a course towards a more inclusive, innovative, and AI-enabled future for public service.

Key Highlights of the Theme:

  • Human-Centered AI: Embracing AI technologies that prioritize human-centric design, empathy, and ethical considerations. We’ll explore how AI can empower public sector professionals to think like humans while leveraging machine learning capabilities to enhance decision-making and service delivery.
  • Continuous Learning: Recognizing the importance of continuous learning and adaptation in the era of AI, we’ll delve into strategies for upskilling and reskilling public sector workforce to thrive in AI-driven environments, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
  • Innovation and Collaboration: Harnessing the collaborative potential of AI to drive innovation and tackle complex societal challenges. From smart cities to healthcare and beyond, we’ll showcase groundbreaking AI applications and initiatives that are shaping the future of public service delivery.
