Code of Conduct

DPI is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment. We expect all participants, including delegates, speakers, sponsors, affiliates and volunteers, to adhere to the following code of conduct whether attending in-person or virtually:

  1. Respect: Treat everyone with respect and consideration. Be mindful of diverse perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds.
  2. Inclusivity: Embrace diversity and inclusion. DPI is a platform for collaboration and learning, and we encourage open-mindedness and acceptance.
  3. Professionalism: Always conduct yourself in a professional manner. Refrain from disruptive or inappropriate behaviour, including harassment, discrimination, or any form of intimidation.
  4. Safety: Follow all event guidelines and instructions from staff and security personnel. Report any safety concerns immediately.
  5. Speaker Safety: The stage is considered a safe space for speakers to deliver their presentations without any disruption. Only individuals with explicit authorization, such as event organizers, technical support staff, and designated stage personnel, may access the stage area during sessions. Delegates are not permitted to enter the stage area during a session to ensure the safety and comfort of the speakers, unless explicitly invited by the speaker.
  6. No Unauthorized Access: Do not enter restricted areas, including backstage and speaker areas, without proper authorization.
  7. No Disruptions: Refrain from disrupting sessions, presentations, or activities. Wait for designated Q&A or discussion periods to engage with speakers.
  8. Appropriate Attire: Dress in a manner that is respectful of the professional setting of the event.
  9. Reporting: If you witness or experience any violations of this code of conduct, report them promptly to DPI event organizers or security personnel.
  10. Photo/Audio/Video Release – By attending this event, you agree to be photographed and/or recorded and authorize DPI to use your likeness in promotional and/or marketing materials without the requirement of further notice, compensation or consent from you.

If you have feedback or concerns on the way DPI is managed, this should be directed to DPI volunteers and should not be raised with speakers.

DPI reserves the right to take appropriate action against individuals who violate this code of conduct, including removal from the event.

Reporting a Code of Conduct violation

  1. If attending in-person, please report the incident to a DPI volunteer (during PDW all volunteers are clearly identified in T-shirts and volunteer badges). If attending virtually, please report the incident to events@dpi-canada.com. All reports are confidential.
  2. When reporting an incident, please try to collect as much information as possible.
    • Identifying information (name/company) of the participant violating the code of conduct.
    • The behaviour that was in violation.
    • The approximate time of the behaviour (if different than the time the report was made).
    • The circumstances surrounding the incident. For virtual incidents – screenshots, URLs, or a record of the interaction may help resolve the issue as well.
    • Other people involved in the incident.
  3. The DPI volunteers are well informed on how to deal with any incident and will proceed accordingly.
  4. If you ever feel that your safety is ever threatened, please never hesitate to contact 911. If you do not have a cell phone, a DPI volunteer can assist you.
