GC Panel: Career Management in a Multi-Generational Workplace

Join us for an engaging seminar focused on Career Management, featuring a dynamic Multi-Generational Panel. This session will bring together a diverse group of public sector employees, including students and those new to the public service, mid-career professionals, and senior public service leaders.

In this in-depth conversation, our panelists will explore how different generations can work together effectively despite having varying expectations, communication styles, knowledge of tools, and management preferences. Attendees will gain valuable insights into the following topics:

  • Expectations and Values: Understanding the unique values and expectations of each generation in the workplace.
  • Communication Styles: Bridging the gap between different communication preferences to foster better collaboration.
  • Technological Proficiency: Leveraging the diverse knowledge of tools and technology across generations.
  • Management Preferences: Adapting management approaches to meet the needs of a multi-generational team.

This seminar will provide practical strategies for creating an inclusive and productive work environment where employees of all generations can thrive. Whether you are just starting your career or are a seasoned professional, this discussion will offer valuable perspectives on navigating and succeeding in a multi-generational workplace.

Don't miss this opportunity to learn from and connect with your peers and leaders across the public service. Join us in February for a thought-provoking session that will help you bridge generational divides and enhance your career management skills.

Together, let's build a workplace where every generation can contribute, collaborate, and excel.

Workshop - How to Facilitate Multi-Stakeholder Engagement Workshops

We work in an environment that separates us from intersecting project teams and narrows our scope of work, creating barriers to a shared understanding of where we are at, where we are going and how we will get there. Our ability to achieve the project (or idea exploration) mission and successful deployment (or testing) is dependent on our ability to collaborate with our delivery partners and adapt to organizational changes outside our control. This session will focus on the what, why and how of facilitating workshops that establish, and maintain, a shared understanding. The session will be delivered through the presentation and tangible interaction of materials with an outcome of a foundational facilitation toolbox.

Facilitator - Amy Mungham | IT Analyst, Canada Border Services Agency

Amy Mungham (CBSA) is an awarded facilitator that has delivered countless engagement workshops for diverse projects and audiences within the public service IT sector. She believes in loving problems before solving them, leveraging the strengths of both business and technical delivery partners, and meaningful interaction. Being a creative extrovert on technical and development teams, Amy has learnt how to build bridges that overcome organizational barriers and pave the way forward. Amy is passionate about inclusive communication, addressing complacency through engagement, and finding common ground in diverse workplace milieus.
