Virtual Mentoring

Join us for a dynamic session of Speed Mentoring ‎- where affiliates will be able to connect in groups with senior leaders across government and Private Industry in order to gain new perspectives on a wide range of leadership topics. Bring your most burning questions and connect with your colleagues!

How it works: This is a one-hour mentoring session. Your group will start off with your first mentor. Then, every thirty minutes,  your mentor will leave and a new mentor will join you. These mentors will share their‎ best practices and insights on an array of relevant topics for today's workplace.

Take notes, as this discussion will reveal years of experienced insight.

Meet the Mentors

Liz McKeown (Moderator) | Faculty, Digital Academy, Canada School of Public Service (CSPS)

Liz (Elizabeth) McKeown joined the Canada School of Public Service as faculty within the Digital Academy during the summer of 2019 after three and a half years as the Chief Information Officer at Shared Services Canada and following  other technology related executive positions in the Government of Canada since 2000.

Liz, drawing from her professional and personal experiences, leverages her passion to build the digital acumen and culture of the Canadian Public Service.

 


John Rath-Wilson, Partner, R-W & Associates

John Rath-Wilson is a Partner at R-W & Associates which provides Executive Consulting Services in the fields of Digital Service Delivery and Human Resources.  John recently retired from Gartner Canada where he was a Senior Executive Partner.  Over a period of 5 years, he used his extensive experience in the Canadian federal government combined with world-class Gartner resources to provide advice and guidance to CIOs and other Executive Program members.

As Assistant Deputy Minister, Chief Information Officer/Chief Operations Officer for Public Works and Government Services Canada (2008-20012), John was responsible for the delivery of technology services to a department of 15,000 employees and for supporting the delivery of shared technology services to 140 Government of Canada departments.

Prior to his appointment at PWGSC, John was Senior Director General of (Benefits) Operations at Service Canada. In this position, he provided executive oversight and functional guidance on the transformation and delivery of over $70B in social benefits to Canadians through the Employment Insurance, Canada Pension Plan and Old Age Security programs.

During his years at the Department of Human Resources and Social Development Canada (HRSDC), John held various positions in the field of IT and led several major transformation projects, such as the Service Canada Kiosk Initiative and the Information Communications Technology (ICT) Renewal project. He also served as the Chief Technology Officer where he established an informatics vision and the technology infrastructure for two organizations with approximately 26,000 employees.

John was President of the Association of Public Sector Information Professionals (DPI) in 2007 and he currently serves on the DPI Advisory Board.
